Announcements:

Confessions will be heard on Sunday mornings from 9:15-9:45am and by appointment. All faithful are encouraged to come to the Sacrament every 8 weeks, on average, to help maintain spiritual health. This is especially for those who frequently “with Faith and with Love come forward” to receive the Body and Blood of Christ!

Home Blessings have begun and will continue until Saturday 1 March. Please either fill out a form or see Father as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. Forms are available on the information table in the parish hall. See the guide below as to preparing your home for the Priest’s arrival.

The Annual Parish Meeting of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church will take place on Sunday 24 Feb (snow date 9 March) 2008. All members of the parish family who are in sacramental and financial good standing are asked to attend. This is the first of three official announcements.

Deepest sympathy is extended to Chris Hudack and family on the passing of her brother Nicholas Strongosky. Funeral services were held yesterday in Central City, PA. Sympathies are also extended to Les Miller on the falling asleep in the Lord of his mother +Myrtle Miller this past week. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at St. Leo R.C. Church in Fairfax VA. May God have mercy and grant rest to their souls!

The Annual Meeting agenda, minutes of the last meeting, the Treasurer’s Report for 2007, the President’s Report, the 2008 Budget, and the Capital Improvement Fund Report will be distributed on February 3rd so you have time to read them. Each family is requested to take only one packet of reports. Please bring your packet to the meeting with any questions you may have.

Come and join your fellow parishioners to take part in the meeting on February 24 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. A list of the officers to be elected and their duties was attached to the January 27th bulletin and is also posted on the Bulletin Board. If you are interested in being an officer or nominating someone, talk to Dan Breno, nominating committee chair.

CASH DAY is Sunday 2 March following the Coffee Social. Tickets are now available from Nick Dzubak. As usual, tickets are $10.00 each. It is important that our parishioners purchase and sell as many as possible. Time is short to sell all 300 tickets! All tickets, and donations, need to be handed in to Nick no later than Sunday 24 February. Your participation is appreciated!

Gertrude Hawk Candy orders for the Easter season are now available. Forms must be returned to either Father or Paňi no later than next Sunday 17 February! (remember, the West has their Easter date of 23 March).

Volunteers are needed to help assemble bagged lunches for the Rockville Shelter next Sunday following Divine Services. The more hands we have helping the faster the work will be completed.

The new and improved Holy Resurrection Website is now up and running! Check the new features and see new photos. If you have any suggestions or constructive criticisms, please see Mike Buchko.

Thank you to everyone who ordered subs for the Jr. ACRY sub sale. We sold 30 subs and collected $107 for St. John the Compassionate Mission. That's excellent for our first “Souper Bowl Sunday” collection! May God bless all who assisted in this project! Many Years!

A Prayer for the Beginning of the Day

"O Lord, grant me to greet the coming day in peace, help me in all things to rely upon your holy will. In every hour of the day reveal your will to me. Bless my dealings with all who surround me. Teach me to treat all that comes to throughout the day with peace of soul and with firm conviction that your will governs all. In all my deeds and words, guide my thoughts and feelings. In unforeseen events, let me not forget that all are sent by you. Teach me to act firmly and wisely, without embittering or embarrassing others. Give me strength to bear the fatigue of the coming day with all that it shall bring. Direct my will, teach me to pray. And you, yourself, pray in me. Amen." ~ St. Philaret of Moscow
